The name Souad means “those who are happy”.
Layers of color and pattern and a high degree of detail are the hallmarks of this stunning mini-tapestry. The contemplative face of the young desert woman may call to mind prayer, meditation, or the secretive musings of a still, quiet happiness.
The vibrant headdress continues beyond the edges to enhance the striking three-dimensional effect. Her necklace forms an important part of the design as it flows down into the fringe.
