Beings of Color and Light
As I compose the “beings” in this series, I “listen” to them in my mind as they wordlessly tell me about themselves. It’s difficult to describe this internal process because it involves senses that we don’t often use day-to-day. Therefore I use color, light, shadow, and shape to give them a visual life. Each piece involves a complex, multi-stepped process of meditation, dreaming, sketching, several A.I. tools, and Photoshop compositing. Then I draw and paint by hand using ink, pencil, chalk, pastel, and charcoal. When finished, I feel like I’ve spent intimate time with a dear, close friend, and I have changed: I have become more because of our time together.
