Pothos
Pothos are among my favorite houseplants with their exuberant and luxurious tangle of heart-shaped leaves that sometimes “transpire” in the mornings. I have one I named “Queen,” that I was gifted from my mother when she passed years ago. This painting grew from my love of that particular Pothos and how much it means to me.

These mixed media pieces on wood evolve from my fascination with plants. A certain plant catches my imagination, I listen to it with my whole being, with all my senses. Out of this I sense a human-like deva or being that attends the plant. Or sometimes, the human image comes to me first, and after that I sense the plant that she/he connects with. I then use every medium available – colored pencil, charcoal, ink, acrylic, markers, oil, and pastel – to bring them to life on a wood panel.
