Silent Night
The breathtaking color schemes of the borealis’ fill me with awe. Tucked within these wondrous colors is my favorite star in the heavens: Sirius, the brightest star. Follow the 3 stars of Orion’s belt, which point to Sirius, and you’ll see what I call the “Queen of the Heavens.” I painted this to evoke the sense of the sacred I feel on winter nights - especially during the holiday season - as I gaze up at Sirius.

My landscapes begin with a specific place of profound beauty. While I paint, the way I ordinarily see shuts down. I make myself permeable to how color and energy want to move, what they want to become. I shift forms and colors so the paintings become not realistic depictions, but my renditions of the sacred and mystical energy I sense. This activity of altered vision and creation is absolute joy for me.
